Background - Holstenwall Rooftops

A study of the set and background from "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (1920)'s famous rooftop abduction scene, rendered in eerie blues and greens.
In my study, I sought to emphasize the shapes and angles of the scenery, exaggerating them and pushing them beyond even the original set's groundbreaking Expressionist design. I also departed from my usual approach by using a painterly style with visible brush strokes.
