Poster - Metropolis (1927)

April 2024 - Digital

A psychedelic poster for one of my favorite films of all time, Metropolis (1927, dir. Fritz Lang). It features the protagonist, Freder, in a state of terror caused by a hallucination (fittingly for this piece).

I used purple for the outlines instead of black, and as a result, some of the screen tones used to color the piece bleed through. The lettering style of the title is inspired by the poster designs of Wes Wilson, who was himself inspired by the posters of the Vienna Secession and Art Nouveau movements.
