This piece was created as part of Bweird's OCtober 2024 challenge for the prompt "fears". Here, we see one of Fritz's greatest fears - being confronted by his past as a secret police informant!
The harsh lighting and red-dominated color scheme were chosen to evoke a sense of danger, and were also a chance for me to experiment with design choices I don't usually make. I enjoyed designing this piece in the style of the pulp novel covers that fill used bookstores everywhere; they're an interesting window into the graphic design trends of their respective periods and I've slowly amassed a small collection of my own as a result. The type elements (title, snappy tagline, and signature/"publisher's logo") are set in Futura Black and Berthold Akzidenz Grotesk. The numbers "24-1027" date the piece to October 27, 2024.
