Squirrel on Barbed Wire

This piece was inspired by a brief shot in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975, dir. Miloš Forman). I was struck by the symbolism, intentional or not, of a wild animal balancing on the threshold between freedom and imprisonment.
I sought to emulate a painterly style, both to emphasize the squirrel and tree's organic forms and to create a piece resembling a book cover from the time the film (or the book it adapted) was released.
