Transgender Day of Visibility

March 31 marks the annual observance of International Transgender Day of Visibility. TDOV, as it is often abbreviated, does not only raise awareness of discrimination, violence, and other struggles transgender people face, but also celebrates them, their lives, and their contributions. Black cats, like the one pictured here, have historically been viewed as omens of bad luck, but in reality are equally as capable of being loving and affectionate companions as any other cat.
I experimented with using rough textures and stencil-like shapes for this piece. Only three "ink" colors were used - primary cyan, primary magenta, and black - and combined to create the illusion of darker colors in the border.
